There will not be a Worlds Speak Freely meeting on Wednesday, October 31st due to Halloween. The officers are currently discussing whether or not we will hold a Trick-or-Treat event in Center City, instead.
Trick-or-Treat is a North American Halloween tradition, where people go door-to-door in order to ask for candy, or other treats dependent on the house. While wearing a Halloween costume, you knock on a door or ring a doorbell, and ask the person who opens the door, “trick or treat?”
Then, the person will give you candy or something else (one year, someone gave me soda cans…I’m not even joking – I had to carry those heavy soda cans with me the whole night).
It’s a fun, light-hearted, social event that would let club members experience American culture, see the Rittenhouse Square neighborhood of Center City, get FREE candy/treats, and get to know one another as club members.
If you are STRONGLY committed to a Trick-or-Treat event (keeping in mind that this would have to happen sometime after 5PM, and not 7PM), then email the WSF officers at email@example.com or post on our Facebook group.
Otherwise, there will not be a WSF meeting at all on 10/31.
Oh, and I’d like to give a very warm welcome to our new Treasurer, Anna Hlinkova! Congratulations. We are very glad to have her join the WSF Officer Team. I will allow her to introduce herself at one of our future meetings, since my post here has gone on long enough. 🙂
I’ve sent everyone an email about this, but just in case you aren’t receiving our emails, I’ll write this here. If you are interested in applying to become World Speak Freely’s new treasurer, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Tomorrow, as in THIS FRIDAY, the 19th, Worlds Speak Freely is going to South Street! Meet us at the Dragon statue (33rd & Market) at 6:30PM. We will then take the subway to 5th Street, go to a Mexican art gallery/store, and then, at 8:30, we will see a MAGIC SHOW!
Tickets to the magic show are $15 but since we officers like you guys so much, we can buy your tickets for you. This trip requires 2 tokens but if you give us notice in advance, we can even supply you with tokens. The trip just keeps sounding better and better.
So, October 19th. Be at the Dragon Statue at 6:30PM. Reply to our post about this in the Facebook group, or send us an email at email@example.com if you want to go.
Hope to see you there!
And don’t forget, our next meeting is Wednesday, October 24th in CAT 231 (Speitel Conference Room) from 7 to 8 PM.
Thank you for coming to our latest meeting, everyone. You’re all better actors and more hilarious than you think. It was a lot of fun meeting and performing with new and old members. I hope you all come to our next meeting!
And to anyone who missed this week’s meeting, come to our Week 5 meeting! Things get better every week. Wow, I can’t believe next week is Week 5…
Take note that this meeting is in a DIFFERENT room than our usual meetings. This time, we will be meeting in the Speitel Conference Room. This is Room 231 in the Center for Automation Technology. Again, the meeting is in CAT 231.
So, it’s on Wednesday, October 24th in CAT 231 from 7 to 8 PM. It’s the conference room down the hall from the Hill Conference Room. Keep an eye on your emails and the Facebook group for future announcements!
Thank you to everyone who showed up to our meeting yesterday. We had a fun time playing a silly game and making even sillier jokes. If you missed yesterday, then be sure to come to our next meeting on Wednesday, Oct 17th.
Same time, same room.
This Saturday (the 13th), WSF is having a zoo trip. The officers will be paying for your tickets! Yes, that means that this trip to the zoo is FREE. If interested, then post on our Facebook group, or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org
Hope to see you there.
Thanks for coming to our meeting! You should have all received an email from the Drexel WSF Gmail account. If you haven’t, then please let one of the officers know so that we can add you to the email list.
We’d like to plan to meet up this weekend. If you want to get involved in that, then please join our Facebook group OR send us an email about it if you don’t have a Facebook account.
Our next meeting will be on the 10th, at the same time and at the same place. Thanks again, everyone!
TYVM means “thank you very much.”
